Allegations of NEET-UG Paper Leak

Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan recently made a statement denying any evidence of the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) paper leak. However, investigations conducted by the Bihar police and its economic offences unit (EOU) revealed that the question papers had indeed been leaked. This revelation raised concerns about the integrity of the examination process.

Challenges in the Investigation

Despite Pradhan’s assertions of no corruption within the National Testing Agency (NTA), reports indicated that the NTA had hindered the EOU investigations by withholding crucial information. The lack of cooperation from the NTA stalled the progress of the probe into the alleged paper leak, leaving many unanswered questions.

Arrests and Revelations

Following the investigation, around 13 individuals were arrested in connection with the alleged NEET-UG paper leak. The EOU, under the leadership of additional director-general Nayyar Hasnain Khan, formed a special investigation team to delve deeper into the matter. It was discovered that a mafia group involved in compromising the exam had orchestrated a sophisticated operation to leak the question papers.

Modus Operandi of the Mafia

According to Khan, the mafia would pick up candidates a day before the examination and house them at a boys’ hostel on the outskirts of Patna. The candidates were made to memorise the leaked questions and answers, which were then replicated in the NEET-UG exam. Raids conducted at the Learn Boys Hostel revealed incriminating evidence, including a NEET-UG booklet and documents linking the candidates to the alleged leak.

Repeat Offenders

Among the arrested individuals were Sikandar Yadvendu, Akhilesh Kumar, and Nitish Kumar, who had been previously implicated in other paper leak cases. Despite facing legal consequences in the past, they had managed to secure bail and resume their illicit activities. The EOU’s efforts to crack down on these repeat offenders were met with challenges due to the lack of cooperation from the NTA.

Delays and Setbacks

The EOU’s attempts to gather crucial information from the NTA were met with delays, as the agency took almost a month to respond to their queries. This delayed the progress of the investigation and impeded the EOU’s ability to move forward with the case. The lack of transparency and cooperation from the NTA raised further questions about the integrity of the examination process.

Interception and Confessions

In a dramatic turn of events, a team led by inspector Amar Kumar intercepted a vehicle carrying individuals involved in compromising the NEET-UG exam. Three persons were apprehended, leading to further revelations about the leaked question papers. One of the candidates, Ayush Raj, confessed to receiving the leaked questions in advance, highlighting the extent of the alleged malpractice in the examination.

In conclusion, the NEET-UG paper leak scandal has raised serious concerns about the integrity of the examination process and the role of regulatory bodies in ensuring fair and transparent assessments. The ongoing investigation by the EOU sheds light on the sophisticated methods employed by criminal syndicates to manipulate the outcome of crucial exams, jeopardizing the future of aspiring students..
