Arrest of 17-Year-Old in Laurel
In a recent incident in Laurel, Delaware, a 17-year-old male has been taken into custody after being found in possession of drugs and a firearm. The event unfolded at approximately 12:20 p.m. on a Thursday when a police officer was conducting patrols near the First Stop Gas Station on West Street in Laurel.

Police Encounter
During his patrol, the officer observed three juvenile males walking on West Street, with one of them appearing to conceal a weapon in his waistband. When the police attempted to stop them, two of the individuals fled eastbound on 6th Street, while the third, suspected of carrying a weapon, ran southbound on West Street.
Detention and Discovery
The officers managed to detain the third juvenile, who was still reaching into the front of his waistband. Upon compliance with multiple commands, the juvenile was apprehended. A subsequent pat-down revealed a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun concealed in his waistband, along with crack cocaine and Xanax pills without a prescription.
Charges and Warrant
The 17-year-old male from Salisbury was placed under arrest and charged with Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon A Firearm (Class D Felony), Possession of a Firearm by Person Prohibited (Class D Felony), Possession of Ammunition by Person Prohibited (Class D Felony), and Possession of Controlled Substance x2 (Class B Misdemeanor).
In addition to these charges, it was discovered that the juvenile had an active warrant issued by the Sussex County Family Court for Failure to Appear in reference to a February 2024 resisting arrest case. Following his arrest, he was arraigned and committed to the Stevenson House Juvenile Detention Center in lieu of $7,900 secured bail.
