Arrests Made in Connection to Springhill Stabbing Incident
In a recent incident that shook the town of Springhill, two individuals have been arrested in connection to a stabbing that occurred following a vehicle collision in the early hours of June 10th. The Cumberland County District RCMP responded to a call in the 100 block of McGee St. around 4:40 a.m. after receiving reports of a vehicle crashing into a parked car.

Brave Intervention Leads to Stabbing
According to police reports, a 50-year-old man from Springhill witnessed the collision and attempted to prevent the suspects from fleeing the scene. Unfortunately, his bravery was met with violence as he was stabbed by the suspects. The victim was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Arrests and Charges
Following the incident, the suspects, a 31-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man, both from Springhill, managed to evade authorities initially. However, police were able to locate and arrest the woman the next day. A warrant was issued for the arrest of Spencer Hatton, the 22-year-old man involved, who was safely apprehended later that day.
Hatton has since been remanded into custody and is set to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on June 18th to face several charges, including Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, and Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm.
The 31-year-old woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, has been released on certain conditions. She is expected to appear in court on August 12th to answer to charges of Failing to Stop After an Accident and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
