**Indian Delegation Sent to Kuwait to Assist with Tragic Fire Incident**

Early on Wednesday, a devastating fire engulfed a building in southern Kuwait that housed migrant workers, resulting in the tragic loss of at least 49 lives and leaving 50 others injured. The majority of the victims were Indian nationals, with 42 of the deceased hailing from India.
The building, rented by the Indian construction company NBTC group, provided accommodations for over 195 workers, predominantly from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh. Many of the workers were men living in Kuwait without their families.
Among the victims were individuals from various regions of India, each with their own unique stories and aspirations. For instance, 29-year-old Stephen Abraham Sabu, an engineer from Kottayam, Kerala, tragically lost his life in the fire. He left behind his mother and siblings, highlighting the personal tragedies that have unfolded as a result of this incident.
Another victim, Kelu Ponmaleri, a 58-year-old engineer from Thrikaripur, had been working in Kuwait for a decade and was planning to return to India for his daughter’s college admission. His sudden demise has left his family in mourning.

The loss of Sreehari Pradeep, a mechanical engineer from Changanassery, has also deeply affected his loved ones. His parents now grieve the untimely passing of their son, highlighting the profound impact of this tragic event on families across India.
The fire in Mangaf, a city south of Kuwait City, was reported early in the morning, leading to a swift response from local authorities. While the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, the extreme heatwave in the region, with temperatures exceeding 50 degrees Celsius, is believed to have played a role in the tragedy.
India has mobilized a high-level delegation to Kuwait to work closely with local authorities in managing the aftermath of the fire. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has been in communication with Kuwaiti officials, ensuring that the necessary steps are taken to repatriate the bodies of the deceased and provide support to the injured.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and announced an ex-gratia relief fund for the affected families. Minister of State Kirti Vardhan Singh is also on his way to Kuwait to assist with the repatriation efforts and provide medical assistance to those in need.
As the Indian Embassy establishes a helpline for families to seek information and support, the nation mourns the loss of its citizens and stands in solidarity with those affected by this tragic incident.
