In a recent development in the case of Allahnia Lenoir’s disappearance and suspected murder in 2022, Steven Oboite, the 31-year-old man wanted in connection to the case, has been apprehended and brought back to Atlanta to face charges. Oboite, who had been on the run for nearly two years, was finally captured while riding a jet ski on Lake Allatoona in early June. The Department of Natural Resources attempted to pull him over for a violation, but he fled, abandoning the jet ski and running into the woods. Fortunately, game wardens were able to track him down and make the arrest.

Oboite faced several charges related to his conduct on the lake, including BUI, obstruction, and violations of boat traffic rules. He was initially held at Bartow County Jail but was later released before being picked up by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. Now, he will face charges for his alleged involvement in Lenoir’s disappearance, including murder, possession of a controlled substance, concealed death of another, and tampering with evidence.
Prior to his arrest, Oboite had managed to evade law enforcement for almost two years. His capture on Lake Allatoona marked the end of his time on the run, much to the relief of authorities and the victim’s family. Jeannette Jackson, Lenoir’s mother, expressed her frustration, stating, “Having a good time at Lake Allatoona lets me know you had zero intention of ever turning yourself in.”
Allahnia Lenoir, 24, was last seen at a Midtown Atlanta apartment building on Peachtree Street in July 2022. She was visiting the complex with a friend and was reported missing the following day. Despite extensive searches, her body has never been found, leading authorities to believe that she is deceased. The case has left her loved ones devastated, as they continue to seek justice for her.
Following Lenoir’s disappearance, Atlanta police identified two men, including Oboite and Diante Reynolds, as suspects in the case. Later, a third man, Nicholas Hendrickson, was also implicated in the crime, although he was not charged with murder. Police suspected that Hendrickson assisted Oboite and Reynolds in disposing of Lenoir’s body after her death.
