Eva Bernice Heaton-Beach, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospital in Denmark, Iowa. She was 83 years old.

Eva was born on September 15, 1940, in Denmark, Iowa to the late Harold and Mildred Heaton. She grew up in the small town of Denmark and graduated from Denmark High School. After high school, Eva attended the University of Iowa where she earned her degree in Education.

Eva had a passion for teaching and spent over 30 years as an elementary school teacher in the Denmark community. She was known for her patience, kindness, and dedication to her students. Eva touched the lives of many children throughout her career and was loved by all who knew her.

In addition to her work as a teacher, Eva was a devoted wife to her husband, John, and a loving mother to their three children. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking delicious meals, and hosting gatherings at their home. Eva was known for her warm hospitality and always made everyone feel welcome.

Eva had a love for gardening and spent many hours tending to her beautiful flowers and plants. She had a green thumb and her garden was always a sight to behold. Eva also enjoyed reading, knitting, and volunteering in her community. She was a member of the local church choir and participated in various charitable organizations.

Eva is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, John Beach; her children, Sarah (Mark) Thompson, Michael (Amy) Beach, and Emily (David) Carter; her grandchildren, Jacob, Olivia, Ethan, Sophia, and Grace; her siblings, Alice (Tom) Johnson and Robert (Susan) Heaton; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of Eva’s life will be held at the Denmark Community Center on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Denmark Elementary School in Eva’s memory.

Eva will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life. May she rest in peace.
