Arrest Made in Houston Shooting Incident
In a recent incident in Houston, Texas, charges have been filed against one suspect and another suspect is currently wanted in connection with the shooting of two men. The incident took place at 7102 Lyons Avenue around 2:10 a.m. on May 11.
Suspect Charged in Shooting
Adolfo Aguirre-Mendiola, 27, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 179th State District Court. Additionally, he faces a charge of violation of a protective order in Harris County Criminal Court #7. The second suspect, identified as David Rojas, 44, is facing a charge of misdemeanor theft in Harris County Criminal Court #2. Rojas, who is currently not in custody, remains at large.
Details of the Incident
According to HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives M. George and J. Windham, the incident unfolded when a female victim, aged 28, had her property taken by Rojas. When Aguirre-Mendiola attempted to retrieve the stolen property, a physical altercation broke out between him and Rojas. During the altercation, Aguirre-Mendiola discharged a weapon, inadvertently striking both Rojas and a male bystander, aged 45.
Both injured men were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of their non-life-threatening injuries. Following a thorough investigation that identified Aguirre-Mendiola as the primary suspect, he was formally charged. On Thursday, June 6, Aguirre-Mendiola was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. However, Rojas remains at large and is currently being sought by authorities.
