The victim, identified as Devi, was a resident of Maduramangalam village near Sunguvarchatram in Kancheepuram district. Devi’s husband, Murugan, became worried when she did not return home from work on Thursday, June 6, 2024. He lodged a complaint with the police, hoping to trace her whereabouts. Two days later, residents of Thirumangalam village made a shocking discovery when they found a sewerage line blocked. Upon investigation, a resident found a piece of a saree blocking the line and, upon further inspection, discovered part of a human body.
