Two Injured in Lake City Shooting
In a harrowing turn of events on Saturday night, two individuals were left injured following a shooting incident in Lake City, Florida. The Lake City Police Department reported that the victims were found with gunshot wounds after officers responded to a call on NW Wilson Street at around 8:05 p.m.

Standoff and Arrest
The suspect, identified as Brooks Smith, allegedly retreated back into a residence on the property after the shooting took place. Law enforcement officers swiftly established a perimeter around the area and called in the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team for assistance.
SWAT negotiators were able to establish communication with Smith, who displayed aggressive behavior towards the officers and even fired shots from inside the residence. Despite the tense situation, officers and deputies maintained their composure and professionalism throughout the five-hour standoff.
Eventually, Smith was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for medical evaluation before being booked into the Columbia County Detention Center. He now faces two counts of attempted homicide, according to police reports.
