Arrests Made in Jackson County Following Traffic Stop
Two suspects are currently under investigation by law enforcement authorities in Jackson County after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia in their vehicle.

The incident occurred just after 11 p.m. on June 6, when a Sheriff’s Deputy near Mayetta noticed a gray Honda Accord with a Kansas license plate that had expired registration. Despite the presence of a current 2025 sticker on the plate, the Deputy decided to investigate further.
A Jackson County K-9 unit was brought in and alerted to the potential presence of illegal drugs or narcotics within the vehicle. A subsequent probable cause search revealed not only illegal narcotics but also drug paraphernalia and multiple open alcohol containers.
Suspects identified
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Earl T Kuhn III, a 61-year-old resident of Topeka. The passenger was identified as David W Brooks, a 58-year-old also from Topeka.
Kuhn III was taken into custody on a range of charges, including possession of methamphetamine, THC, and marijuana, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. Additionally, he faces charges for transporting an open container, driving as a habitual violator, operating a vehicle with expired registration, improper registration, and lack of proof of insurance.

Brooks, on the other hand, was arrested solely on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, THC, and marijuana, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and transporting an open container.
