In a recent incident in northern Iredell County, a resident and a juvenile have been charged in connection with the theft of two vehicles and several car break-ins. The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO) announced the arrest of Steven Michael Potts, 18, of Kammerer Drive, and a juvenile in a news release.

Vehicle Theft and Pursuit
The incident began when ICSO deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from a residence in the Troutman area. Deputies quickly located the stolen car being driven through downtown Statesville. A pursuit ensued, but the driver crashed the vehicle and fled the scene on foot, evading capture.
Car Break-Ins and Second Vehicle Theft
Following the initial stolen vehicle report, additional car break-ins were reported in northern Iredell County and the Troutman area. Another vehicle was reported stolen from a residence in northern Iredell County. ICSO criminal investigators identified a 15-year-old male as the suspect responsible for the car break-ins and vehicle theft.
Arrest and Charges
Steven Potts was identified as the second suspect in the case. Detectives determined that Potts had assisted the juvenile in the car break-ins and had stolen the second vehicle. Potts was taken into custody and charged with multiple offences, including felony larceny of motor vehicle, breaking or entering a motor vehicle, and resisting a law enforcement officer.
