Illinois Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing His Two Brothers

An Illinois man, Jeffrey S. Austwick, 54, of Highland Park, has been arrested for the tragic and heinous act of allegedly killing his two brothers, John Austwick, 60, and Marc Austwick, 63, earlier this week. The incident took place in their late mother’s home, which was located roughly 25 miles north of Chicago.

Fire and Suspicious Injuries

On Wednesday, the Highland Park police and fire departments responded to a fire at the residence where the Austwick brothers were found with suspicious injuries. Unfortunately, both John and Marc Austwick were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation and Arrest

Following an extensive investigation by the Highland Park police and the Lake County Major Crime Task Force, authorities determined that the victims’ younger brother, Jeffrey, was responsible for the double shooting. According to Chris Covelli, a spokesperson for the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force, Jeffrey shot both Marc and John before setting the home ablaze. The suspect then fled the scene in his vehicle.

A nationwide warrant was issued for Jeffrey Austwick’s arrest on two counts of murder. He was apprehended early Friday morning at a park in St. Louis, Missouri. Currently, he remains in custody in Missouri awaiting an initial court hearing.
