A Hillsborough County teen, Tony Shepard Jr., is facing a murder charge for his involvement in a robbery-turned-homicide at a Brandon apartment complex in 2022. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement on Wednesday, revealing that Shepard, aged 16, was arrested following the execution of a search warrant at his home. Details of the Incident

The fatal incident took place on November 23, 2022, at the Lakewood Place apartment complex located at 1701 Lake Chapman Drive in Brandon. The authorities received multiple calls about a shooting around 8:20 pm that evening. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 16-year-old boy in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that had crashed into a tree. Tragically, the teen had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the neck and succumbed to his injuries.

Arrest of Suspects

Shepard is the fourth and final suspect to be apprehended in connection with the homicide. Three other individuals, Jamerius Bennefield (17), Jyi’Keem Henry (16), and Demitrus Bailey (17), were indicted last year for their alleged roles in the robbery gone wrong. Shepard was identified by authorities as the driver for the other suspects involved in the incident.

Apart from the murder charge, Shepard is also facing additional charges, including being a minor in possession of a firearm, grand theft firearm, armed possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and carrying a concealed firearm.
