Man Arrested for DUI in Brevard County Crash
In a recent incident in Melbourne, Florida, a man has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a crash that left three people injured, including a 1-year-old child. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred on Interstate 95 in Melbourne late on a Friday night.

The Crash Details
According to investigators, the driver of a Lexus failed to slow down as it approached a Toyota on the highway. The report indicated that the Toyota was traveling at over 100 miles per hour in a 70-mile-per-hour zone. The Lexus rear-ended the Toyota, causing it to veer off the road and overturn, ultimately hitting a traffic sign.
Arrest and Charges
The driver of the Lexus, identified as Thomas Roberts Jr., displayed signs of impairment when interviewed by troopers. He had bloodshot eyes, a strong smell of alcohol on his breath, and slurred speech. After performing sobriety tests, Roberts Jr. was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
Injuries and Hospitalizations
The 1-year-old child involved in the crash was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital and is currently in stable condition. Another passenger in the vehicle was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, including a head injury, a broken clavicle, and a broken leg. A third passenger was transported to Viera Hospital for treatment.
Legal Consequences
Thomas Roberts Jr. was taken into custody and is facing multiple DUI charges. He has been detained at the Brevard County Jail pending further legal proceedings.
