The Niagara Regional Police Service has made a breakthrough in a cold case dating back to 1999. The case involves the tragic murder of 26-year-old Nadine Gurczenski, whose body was found in a roadside ditch in the Town of Lincoln. After years of investigation, a suspect has finally been identified.

Identification of Suspect

Through advancements in DNA technology and the use of Investigative Genetic Genealogy, detectives were able to identify Joseph Archie “Raymond” Brousseau as the prime suspect in Nadine Gurczenski’s murder. Brousseau, who was 34 at the time of the incident, passed away in 2017. Based on the evidence collected, he would have been charged with second-degree murder if he were alive today.

Suspect’s Background

During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that Brousseau worked as a truck driver and travelled extensively throughout Canada and the United States. He also had ties to Quebec, adding complexity to the case. Despite his death, the police were able to piece together his movements and establish his connection to the crime.
