Tragic Accident Claims Life of Brownsville Man
In a devastating turn of events, a 31-year-old Brownsville man, Gabriel Arenas Ibarra, lost his life in a tragic accident early Sunday morning. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that Ibarra was attempting to cross FM 802, west of Vermillion Avenue in Cameron County, when he was struck by a Toyota Tacoma.

Details of the Accident
The fatal crash occurred at around 12:28 a.m. when the Toyota Tacoma, with a sole occupant, was travelling westbound on FM 802. Ibarra, who was crossing the road northbound in a non-designated highway area, was hit by the vehicle. The driver of the Toyota immediately stopped to provide aid and called 9-1-1, but sadly Ibarra succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Preliminary Investigation
Based on the preliminary investigation conducted by the DPS, it was determined that Ibarra was at fault for crossing the road in a non-designated area. The driver of the Toyota, whose identity has not been disclosed, was cooperative with authorities and is not facing any charges at this time.
