Standoff and Officer-Involved Shootings

Davenport, along with Dana Banks, was holed up in the residence, and despite repeated commands to surrender, he refused to come out. The situation escalated when Davenport exited the rear of the residence and fired shots at troopers before attempting to steal an NSP cruiser. Multiple troopers and an Omaha police officer opened fire, preventing Davenport from accessing a rifle locked inside the cruiser.

A Desperate Escape

As the chaos unfolded, Banks arrived at the scene in a gray Ford Fusion. Davenport used her as a shield to make his escape, forcing her to enter the vehicle before fleeing through Upland Park. A large-scale search involving helicopters was launched, but the suspects managed to evade capture.

A Dramatic Pursuit

Law enforcement later received information that Davenport and Banks were travelling in a stolen Kia Soul in Washington County. A deputy attempted a traffic stop, prompting a pursuit that ended with the suspects fleeing on foot and hiding inside a semi cab in Kennard. The standoff intensified as Davenport brandished a firearm and refused to surrender.

Resolution and Arrest

Despite repeated commands to discard the weapon, Davenport continued to pose a threat to officers. Troopers were forced to open fire, injuring Banks in the process. The standoff came to a dramatic end when a specialized armored vehicle was used to gain access to the semi cab, leading to Davenport’s arrest. Both suspects were taken to UNMC with non-life-threatening injuries, and charges are pending in Douglas and Washington Counties.
