The Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call on that fateful day, seeking help at the 400 block of NE Grattan. When officers and first responders arrived at the scene, they found a 4-year-old child, L.P-B., suffering from a gunshot wound. Tragically, the child was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.
Sequence of Events
Upon further investigation, the police discovered that Belair’s children were in the living room with her before the shooting occurred. Belair then moved the gun to a center-dresser drawer in an adjacent room before the authorities arrived. A subsequent search of the residence revealed the gun, as well as a bag of methamphetamine and paraphernalia in the drawer.
