The victims were identified as Rakib, a 25-year-old rickshaw puller; Mariyam Begum, a 45-year-old garment worker; Liza Akter, a 16-year-old factory worker; and Al Amin, a 17-year-old sawmill worker.

Rakib was electrocuted while trying to remove the charger from his battery-operated rickshaw in a garage in Riazbagh, Khilgaon, amidst severe waterlogging caused by the continuous rainfall. Mariyam lost her life after coming into contact with a live electric wire in knee-deep water on the road in Sipahibahg, Khilgaon. Liza was electrocuted when she touched a tin-fence in her neighbourhood, suspected to have been in contact with a live wire. Al Amin met a tragic fate while walking through water on his way to the sawmill from his house.
