In a tragic turn of events, four individuals, including two women, lost their lives due to electrocution in different areas of Dhaka during the fierce winds and rain brought on by Cyclone Remal. The victims were identified as Rakib, a 25-year-old rickshaw puller; Mariyam Begum, a 45-year-old garment worker; Liza Akter, a 16-year-old factory worker; and Al Amin, a 17-year-old sawmill worker.

The devastating incident took place between 9:00 pm and 1:30 am, leaving the families and communities of the deceased in shock. The victims were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where medical professionals pronounced them dead upon arrival.

Rakib was electrocuted while trying to remove the charger from his battery-operated rickshaw in a garage in Riazbagh, Khilgaon, amidst severe waterlogging caused by the continuous rainfall. Mariyam lost her life after coming into contact with a live electric wire in knee-deep water on the road in Sipahibahg, Khilgaon. Liza was electrocuted when she touched a tin-fence in her neighbourhood, suspected to have been in contact with a live wire. Al Amin met a tragic fate while walking through water on his way to the sawmill from his house.

Relatives, co-workers, and neighbours acted swiftly to transport the victims to the hospital, but unfortunately, their efforts were in vain. Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost, confirmed the deaths and stated that the bodies were sent for autopsy at the hospital morgue.
