Passenger Found Dead in Matatu on Machakos-Koka Route

In a tragic turn of events, detectives are currently investigating the untimely death of a passenger on the Machakos-Koka route. The deceased, identified as Peter Kioko Wambua, aged 52, was found unresponsive in a matatu by the conductor. The matatu was en route from Machakos town to Kamuani, the passenger’s rural home.

Details of the Incident

According to police reports, Peter Kioko Wambua had boarded the matatu in Machakos town with the intention of alighting at Kamuani. He had informed the conductor of his destination and even paid his fare. The conductor was instructed to inform him when they arrived at Kamuani.

When the matatu reached its destination, the conductor went to wake up the passenger, only to discover that he was unresponsive. Despite several attempts to rouse him, the passenger remained motionless. Another passenger was called upon to assist in moving the deceased from the vehicle.

Discovery of the Deceased

Upon closer examination, it was determined that Peter Kioko Wambua had passed away. His body was placed on the roadside, where it was later discovered by the police. His family was notified and quickly arrived at the scene to identify him. It was revealed that he had been residing in Nairobi and had contacted his mother earlier that day for fare to return home due to an undisclosed illness.

Medical Discoveries

During the investigation, two sachets of medicine were found in the deceased’s shirt pocket. The body, showing no visible signs of physical injury, was transferred to the Machakos Level Five Hospital mortuary for further examination through a postmortem.

Other Developments

In a separate incident, a suspect by the name of Galgalo Abdub, aged 32, was apprehended by police for carrying nine rounds of live ammunition in Karantina Village, Marsabit. He is currently under investigation for the illegal possession of the bullets.

Furthermore, a police officer stationed at Nyawara Police Post in Siaya County was arrested in connection to a shooting and robbery incident in Mbale, Vihiga County. The constable was taken into custody following reports of the incident that occurred on April 14, 2024. Police are continuing their investigations into other cases linked to the arrested officer.
