Tragic Incidents During Cyclone Remal in Dhaka

Amidst the chaos and destruction brought on by cyclone Remal, three individuals tragically lost their lives in separate incidents of electrocution in the capital city of Dhaka on Monday night.

Victims identified

The victims were identified as Liza Akhtar, a 16-year-old girl from Noakhali, Rakib, a 25-year-old man, and Moriam Begum, a 45-year-old woman, both residents of the Khilgaon Thana area.

Details of the Incidents

Liza Akhtar, who resided in Jatrabari, was electrocuted after coming into contact with a tin around her house, leading to her immediate collapse. Despite efforts to rush her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, she tragically passed away before reaching the medical facility.

Rakib, on the other hand, was electrocuted in Khilgaon’s Taltola while charging his battery-powered rickshaw around 11 pm.

Moriam Begum met her untimely demise while walking through water in the Shipahibag area of Khilgaon. Despite being taken to the hospital, the medical staff declared her dead upon arrival.

Confirmation from Authorities

Inspector Bachchu Miah from the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost confirmed the series of tragic events.
