Tragic Accident Claims Life of Clear Lake Woman
The community of Clear Lake, Wisconsin, is mourning the loss of 34-year-old Alexis Steinberger, who tragically lost her life in a devastating crash involving a passenger car and a semi-truck. The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the intersection of State Highway 63 and 60th Avenue, just north of the Village of Clear Lake.

Details of the Accident
According to reports from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Steinberger was the driver of the passenger car that failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling westbound on 60th Avenue. The car entered the path of a northbound semi-tanker truck on Highway 63, resulting in a violent collision. The impact caused the tanker, which was carrying diesel fuel and gasoline, to overturn into the west ditch.
Emergency responders, including fire departments from Clear Lake and Clayton, sprang into action to contain the fuel leak from the overturned tanker. Despite their efforts, Steinberger was airlifted from the scene but sadly succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Another passenger was also airlifted from Amery Hospital and remains in critical condition, while the third occupant of the car is currently listed in stable condition.
