Initial Response and Major Case Unit Involvement

Upon receiving the report, a Child Protective Investigator from DCF, accompanied by law enforcement, visited the home of the alleged victims. However, their attempts to make contact were met with hostility as an adult female inside the residence warned them to leave and threatened legal action. Subsequently, the case was handed over to the Major Case Unit (MCU) of the CCSO for further investigation.

The following day, MCU detectives met with the alleged victims at their school to gather vital information. Shockingly, both children disclosed instances of inappropriate touching by a man identified as Cody Douglas Meredith (06/06/1995). Furthermore, they revealed that they had informed Tiffany Janeth Miller (09/19/1990) of the misconduct, but she reportedly failed to intervene or alert the authorities.

Legal Action and Arrests

On Tuesday, April 23rd, detectives from the Major Crimes Unit visited Tiffany Miller’s residence with a search warrant. Despite numerous attempts to engage with Miller, she refused to cooperate and even resisted arrest when deputies attempted to detain her. Eventually, she was charged accordingly for her non-compliance.

As a result of the extensive investigation, Cody Douglas Meredith was arrested on two counts of Lewd/Lascivious Molestation, while Tiffany Janeth Miller faced charges of Failure to Report Abuse and two counts of Child Neglect. Both individuals were taken into custody and transported to the Charlotte County Jail, with Miller securing bond and Meredith remaining in custody without bail.
