Police Identify Victim
Authorities in Jacksonville, Florida have identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred on the city’s Northside. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the man who died as a result of the shooting is 41-year-old Byron W. Walker.

Incident Details
According to Sgt. Steve Rudlaff of the JSO Homicide Unit, officers were called to Maidstone Cove Drive, just north of the Trout River off Lem Turner Road, at around 9:45 p.m. on May 24. The initial report indicated that a person had been shot, and upon arrival, officers found Walker with multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately taken to the hospital by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue personnel, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Suspect in Custody
A person has been detained in connection with the shooting and is currently being questioned at JSO headquarters in downtown Jacksonville. The circumstances surrounding the incident, as well as the relationships between those involved, remain unclear at this time. However, authorities are actively investigating the case to determine what led to the deadly shooting.

Sgt. Rudlaff has assured the public that investigators believe this to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
