A tragic incident has shaken the Rongo University community as they mourn the untimely death of Baraza Benjamin, a Bachelor of Science student in Human Resource Management. Baraza, hailing from Amagoro village in Busia county, was reported missing on May 7, only to be found lifeless in Ruaka on May 23.

Baraza, a Third-Year student at the School of Arts, Social Sciences and Business, was described as a hardworking and dedicated individual by the university fraternity. The Dean of Students, B Asugo, confirmed the heartbreaking news in a letter, expressing condolences to Baraza’s family and friends.

According to the university, Baraza’s body is currently at the City Mortuary in Nairobi, with details of the burial date to be communicated later. The young man’s sudden disappearance and tragic end have left many in shock and disbelief.

In a poignant Facebook post, Mary Susan PS revealed that Baraza had left home with a sum of KSh 15,000, intending to deposit the money at an M-Pesa outlet. However, he never returned, and his whereabouts remained unknown until his lifeless body was discovered in Ruaka.

The post also mentioned that Baraza had deferred his studies due to financial constraints and had ventured to the city to seek opportunities to raise funds for his education. His sudden demise has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him, with many expressing their grief and disbelief online.
