The Local Crime Branch (LCB), Raigad, recently made a shocking discovery in Panvel, where six individuals working at a restaurant were arrested for the murder of their former colleague. The victim’s body was found dumped in a sack beside the Mumbai-Goa Highway, sending shockwaves through the community. The case came to light when an unidentified body was discovered on May 22 at Ambivali phata on the roadside. Initially, the Pen police were struggling to identify the deceased individual, as he was a migrant without any immediate family to report him missing.

Unravelling the Mystery
The police faced a challenging task of identifying the victim, leading them to focus on tracking down the perpetrators instead. Through meticulous investigation, they traced a plastic sack containing the body back to a purchase at ‘Big Saree Bazar’ in Panvel market. With CCTV footage in hand, they identified one of the accused, Anuj Bhalchandra More, who was seen buying the sack and leaving on his scooter. Further analysis of dump data from the area where the body was found led them to More, who had made a brief phone call from the spot on the night of May 19th.
A Tragic Turn of Events
More confessed to his involvement in the crime, shedding light on the events that transpired at the restaurant, Punjabi Palete, in Panvel. The victim, known only as Abhishek, had previously worked at the establishment and had a history of harassing a female cleaner. Matters escalated when Abhishek returned to the restaurant on May 17 to collect his pending payment. Following a confrontation with the female employee, during which he stole her mobile phone, Abhishek was subjected to a violent assault by the accused individuals.
The Shocking Revelation
The manager of the restaurant, Manoj Gangurde, along with Ganesh Narayan Deshmukh, Kanifnath Suresh Mhatre, and Sumit Keshav Chaire, joined forces in attacking Abhishek, resulting in his tragic demise. The group then concealed his body in a freezer on the premises before transporting it to a dhaba near the Mumbai-Goa road. The dhaba, owned by the accused, served as a temporary hiding place for the body before More was instructed to dispose of it.
