The Special Branch in Johor Baru is closely monitoring groups known for extremist ideologies to ensure the safety and security of Malaysia. Johor police chief M. Kumar stated that radical ideologies and extremist thoughts are challenging to identify within society, making it crucial for the police to keep a watchful eye on such groups.

Attack on Ulu Tiram Police Station
The recent attack on the Ulu Tiram police station, which resulted in the death of two policemen and injuries to another, shed light on the threat posed by radical extremists. The assailant, a 21-year-old man armed with a machete, was believed to have links to the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), a notorious terror organization responsible for the 2002 Bali bombings.
The incident, which took place in the early hours of the morning, sent shockwaves through the community and highlighted the need for enhanced security measures to combat extremist activities. Johor ranks third among police contingents in terms of drug seizures, with 1.72 tonnes of illicit drugs worth RM13.37 million confiscated by the authorities. The state NCID has also seized assets worth RM5.31 million from eight local drug trafficking syndicates, demonstrating their commitment to eradicating drug-related activities in the region.
