Area Police Logs: Victim Name Identified in Recent News Story

Beverly, MA – A bicyclist was involved in a minor accident on Tuesday evening at the intersection of Lovett and Ives streets. According to a witness, the cyclist fell off his bike at 6:55 p.m. after his jacket got tangled in the spokes. The cyclist, a 36-year-old area resident, was not wearing a helmet and did not have any identification on him. He was taken to Beverly Hospital with minor injuries, and his bike was left in the station sallyport for safekeeping.

In another incident on Wednesday, a man flagged down a cruiser at 2:07 a.m. at the intersection of Park and Pleasant streets and requested to be taken to Salem Hospital. He was transported via ambulance. Later that morning, officers responded to a disabled green pickup truck at the intersection of Cabot and Myrtle streets. The driver was found to have a disabled front-right wheel and axle but was not impaired. The vehicle was towed by New Beverly.

The general manager of a building on Park Street reported chalk graffiti on the brick wall of the depot. The graffiti included names like Brenda, “Donalad” and Kristen. The officer spoke with a group of homeless individuals across the street, and one of them took responsibility for the graffiti. The officer instructed them to wash it off immediately to avoid charges of vandalism/tagging.

Later in the day, an officer went to 490 Rantoul St. to take a report on harassment by a tenant. The tenant had given the landlord two weeks’ notice of moving out but was asked to leave immediately. The tenant had a history of issues with the landlord and was advised on legal procedures to follow.

At 5:34 p.m., an officer encountered a minor motor vehicle accident where the operator claimed there was no damage to the rear bumper. The officer warned the operator about the consequences of filing a false claim. Fire and EMS were called to Cabot Street at 7:27 p.m. for a person with an injured leg, who had fainted after scraping her shin on rocks at the beach.

In Peabody, a trailer was reported stolen from iStorage on Summit St. A woman reported a possible memory-impaired father missing after he took a taxi to Cambridge and did not return. The police tracked his location to Logan Airport. In Marblehead, officers responded to various complaints, including larceny, fraud, and motor vehicle crashes.

In Salem, officers dealt with multiple incidents including frauds, scams, assaults, and disputes. A juvenile was reported missing, and a stolen vehicle license plate was reported. Police also responded to reports of larceny, disputes, motor vehicle accidents, and suspicious items.
