Hammond Man Arrested for Shooting Another Man Outside of Bar
In a disturbing turn of events, a Hammond man, Alejandro Zamudio, has been accused of shooting another man in the face outside of a local bar. The incident took place on May 15 at around 11:10 p.m. in the 1400 block of Michigan Street. The victim, a 32-year-old man, called the police after being shot in the left cheek in the parking lot of Las Palmas Bar.

Witnesses Describe Terrifying Encounter
According to court records, a witness who was with the victim at the bar stated that Zamudio approached the victim and started arguing. The witness and the victim then left the bar and walked to their car, only to be confronted by Zamudio who began shooting at them. The victim and his friend managed to flee the scene in their car.
Another passenger who was with the victim at the bar recounted a similar story, stating that Zamudio approached them and started causing trouble. The witness mentioned that Zamudio struck him in the face before other patrons intervened.

The victim informed the police that Zamudio had disrespected a woman at their table, leading to a confrontation. Despite trying to calm the situation, things escalated, and the victim and his friends were asked to leave the bar. As they were leaving, Zamudio and his group followed them to the parking lot and opened fire on their car.

Police reviewed video footage from a nearby business, which showed the victim and his friends leaving the bar and heading towards the parking lot. Shortly after, several individuals exited the bar, with one person wearing a red shirt seen running towards the parking lot.

SWAT Team Executes Search Warrant
On May 23, the Hammond SWAT team executed a search warrant at Zamudio’s residence in the 1300 block of Michigan Street. Zamudio was arrested and taken to the Hammond City Jail. During the search, police discovered a Ruger 9mm handgun, a Charter Arms revolver, four pistol magazines, and over $14,000 in cash.
Charges Against Zamudio
Alejandro Zamudio, 34, is facing charges of attempted murder, a Level 1 felony, for his alleged involvement in the shooting incident. The victim was transported to Community Hospital in Munster for treatment of his injuries.
