Tragic Fire Claims Lives in Delhi Apartment

A devastating fire broke out in a residential building in Delhi, resulting in the loss of two lives and leaving one person in critical condition. The blaze, which started on the upper floors of the building, quickly spread, trapping several residents inside.

Rescue Efforts and Casualties

Firefighters worked tirelessly to rescue the trapped individuals, successfully saving 13 people from the upper floors of the building. These individuals were immediately transported to various hospitals for treatment. Tragically, two of the rescued individuals succumbed to their injuries during treatment. The deceased were identified as 66-year-old Parmila Shad, whose charred body was found on the first floor, and 18-year-old Keshav Sharma. Another victim, Anju Sharma (34), remains in critical condition and has been transferred to Max Hospital for further treatment.

Victims and Survivors

The individuals who were rescued from the fire have been identified as Ruchika, who sustained minor injuries, Sonam Shad with 15% burns, and Divyansh (6), Gaurav (41), Karan Raj Bhalla (56), Rahul Bhalla (35), Rohit Bhalla (30), Manish Bhalla (25), and Seema (54). The community is coming together to support the survivors and the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident.

Investigation and Legal Action

DCP (Shahdara) Surendra Chaudhary has stated that legal action is being taken under sections 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code in relation to the fire incident. Authorities are working diligently to determine the cause of the fire and to ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.

This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety measures in residential buildings. It is crucial for residents to be aware of fire escape routes, have functioning smoke alarms, and practice fire drills regularly to ensure their safety in the event of a fire emergency.
