Tragic Drowning Incident Claims Lives of Three Children in Shahjahanpur

On a scorching hot Saturday afternoon in Shahjahanpur, tragedy struck as three young souls lost their lives while bathing in the Garrah river. The victims, identified as Shivam (10), Harendra (12), and their cousin Sheeshpal (12), ventured to the river to seek relief from the oppressive heat.

Circle officer Amit Kumar Chaurasia revealed that the children had gone to the river to bathe, a common practice during the sweltering summer months. However, their innocent outing turned fatal when they failed to return home after several hours. Concerned family members initiated a search and eventually discovered the lifeless bodies of the children near the riverbank.

According to Chaurasia, the family recounted that the children had left their house around 10:30 am, only to meet their untimely demise by 1 pm. The bodies were retrieved with the assistance of local villagers and divers. Initial investigations suggest that the children may have lost their footing in the strong current, leading to their tragic drowning.

Increasing Trend of Drowning Incidents in Ganga Canal

The heart-wrenching incident in Shahjahanpur comes on the heels of another drowning tragedy in the Ganga canal in Muzaffarnagar. Sonu, aged 35, became the fourth victim in the canal within a span of six days. The rising number of deaths in these water bodies has raised concerns among locals and authorities alike.

In Muzaffarnagar, two young boys, aged nine and 13, lost their lives in the Ganga canal last Sunday, followed by the demise of a 12-year-old boy a day later. Despite the recurring incidents of drowning and repeated warnings from law enforcement agencies, people continue to risk their lives by bathing in these perilous waters.
