Tragic Fire Incident Claims Three Lives in East Delhi

A devastating fire broke out in a four-storey residential building in Krishna Nagar area of east Delhi on Sunday, resulting in the tragic loss of three lives. The charred body of a 66-year-old woman, Promila Shad, was discovered on the first floor of the building. Additionally, two individuals identified as 18-year-old Keshav Sharma and 39-year-old Anju Sharma were declared deceased by medical professionals. The fire, which engulfed the building, also led to the destruction of 14 vehicles and two bicycles at the scene.

Second Major Fire Incident in City in Two Days

This incident marks the second major fire tragedy in Delhi within a span of two days. Just the previous day, a devastating fire swept through a children’s hospital in east Delhi’s Vivek Vihar, claiming the lives of at least seven newborns. The consecutive tragedies have left the city shaken and mourning the loss of innocent lives.

Fire Breaks Out Near Krishna Nagar Police Station

Amidst the chaos, another fire incident was reported in the vicinity of Krishna Nagar police station on the same day. Chief of Delhi Fire Services, Atul Garg, received a distress call regarding a blaze at a house near the Bank of India in Krishna Nagar. The fire, which began in a collection of eleven two-wheelers in the stilt parking area of the house, quickly spread to the first floor of the building.

Efforts to Douse the Flames

Firefighters worked tirelessly to extinguish the flames, managing to bring the situation under control by 7.20 am. The intense heat and smoke affected the second, third, and fourth floors of the building, leading to a harrowing rescue operation. Police and firefighters heroically rescued several individuals trapped in the building, including Sonam Sadh (24) and members of the Bhalla family on the second floor.

Investigation and Legal Action

In the aftermath of the tragedy, police have initiated legal proceedings against the building owner at Krishna Nagar Police Station. An FIR has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including negligent conduct, causing death by negligence, and endangering the safety of others. Post-mortem examinations are being conducted to determine the exact cause of death and gather crucial evidence for the investigation.
