Tragic Fire Incident Claims Three Lives in Delhi

A devastating fire broke out in a four-storey house located in Delhi’s Krishna Nagar area in the early hours of Sunday morning, resulting in a tragic loss of three lives. The fire department received a distress call around 2:30 am, prompting the immediate dispatch of five fire tenders to the scene.

Rescue Efforts and Casualties

Upon arrival, firefighters managed to rescue 12 individuals trapped inside the burning building, swiftly transferring them to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention. Regrettably, the charred remains of one victim were discovered on the first floor, while two others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Additionally, one critically injured survivor was rushed to Max Hospital for intensive care.

The deceased individuals have been identified as Parmila (66), Keshav Sharma (18), and Anju Sharma (34), each leaving behind a legacy of sorrow and grief for their loved ones.

As authorities delve into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown. However, initial reports suggest that the blaze may have originated from a cluster of 11 two-wheelers parked on stilts within the premises.

In a parallel tragedy that unfolded the night before, a massive fire engulfed the New Born Baby Care hospital in Vivek Vihar, claiming the lives of six newborn babies out of the 12 infants rescued from the facility. Presently, one infant remains on a ventilator, while five others receive ongoing treatment at a local hospital.

Upon receiving reports of the blaze, the Delhi fire services swiftly mobilised nine fire trucks to the scene, working in tandem with local authorities to evacuate the newborns from the engulfed hospital. Despite valiant efforts to save all the infants, six tragically could not be revived.

Police Statement and Rescue Efforts

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Surendra Choudhary commended the collaborative efforts of emergency responders and bystanders in the successful rescue of the newborns, who were promptly transferred to East Delhi Advance NICU Hospital for immediate medical care. The police confirmed that the infants were located on the upper floors of the hospital building, which was significantly affected by the intense flames.
