Fire Tragedy at Delhi Hospital Claims Seven Newborn Lives

In a devastating turn of events, a fire broke out at a hospital in Vivek Vihar area in Delhi, resulting in the tragic loss of seven precious newborn lives. The incident, which occurred late last night, has shaken the community to its core and left many in mourning.

Prime Minister Modi Announces Relief Fund

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stepped forward to offer support to the families affected by the fire tragedy. He announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund to the next of kin of each deceased newborn. Additionally, Rs 50,000 will be provided to each of those injured in the incident.

National Commission for Protection of Child Rights Takes Action

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) Chairperson, Priyank Kanoongo, has assured that the Commission is actively investigating the fire tragedy. A team from NCPCR will visit the hospital to conduct a thorough investigation and provide official information on the incident.

Delhi Fire Department Director’s Statement

Atul Garg, Director of the Delhi Fire Department, shed light on the possible cause of the fire. He mentioned that it is likely that the baby care centre did not possess a No-Objection Certificate (NOC), and the owner of the care centre, Naveen Kichi, is currently absconding. An FIR has been registered against him under sections 336 and 304A.

Rescue Operations and Tragic Loss

Garg explained the challenging rescue operation carried out by the fire department. Despite their efforts to save all the newborns, tragically, six children lost their lives in the fire. The presence of oxygen cylinders in the centre led to a blast, complicating the rescue efforts.
