DUI Arrest in Woodland

Early on the morning of May 19, a Woodland police officer conducted a routine traffic stop in the area of Main and East St. The vehicle in question failed to yield until reaching the intersection of East and Cross St. The driver, identified as Remigio Martinez, a 32-year-old Woodland resident, displayed clear signs of intoxication. Following a DUI investigation, Martinez was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended license. He was subsequently booked into the Yolo County Jail.

Prowling Incident Leads to Arrest

On May 22, a resident reported a suspicious individual on the 1600 block of Campos Avenue. The individual was captured on the resident’s driveway camera, prompting fear and distress. Responding officers located the suspect, later identified as Burnell Blindman, a 51-year-old Woodland resident. Blindman provided false identification and was arrested for prowling. Further investigation revealed that Blindman had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was taken into custody and booked into the Yolo County Jail on charges of warrants, prowling, and obstructing an officer.

Homeless Outreach Street Team Activity

The Homeless Outreach Street Team (HOST) in Woodland has been actively engaging with the community. This week, HOST made a total of 44 contacts and offered services to 18 individuals, with one person accepting assistance. Additionally, they tagged 16 camps and conducted clean-up operations at 17 sites. The team also carried out eight patrols in the downtown area, working to address the needs of the homeless population and improve the overall community environment.
