Details of the Incident

The incident initially went unreported to the police, but upon further investigation and review of CCTV footage, it was revealed that Dr Dere was behind the wheel at the time of the accident. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Prashant Kadam, the tragic event occurred around 7:30 pm on Friday as Dr Dere was driving towards the punch machine to mark his attendance. In a moment of oversight, he failed to notice Zubeda on the floor and ran over her as he turned left near Gate Number 7.

Response and Investigation

Following the accident, Dr Dere immediately called hospital authorities and admitted Zubeda to Ward Number 20. However, the hospital did not inform the police about the incident until much later in the evening. It was only around 11 pm when a woman officer was sent to inquire at the hospital and discovered the truth behind Zubeda’s injuries.

The CCTV footage played a crucial role in shedding light on the accident, leading to the registration of a case against Dr Dere under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act. The police are also investigating whether the doctor was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, as well as his duty status.
