**Tragic Friday: Three Lives Lost in Separate Accidents**

It was a devastating Friday in the State as three individuals lost their lives in separate accidents that shook the communities of Ponda and Pernem. The day began with a tragic incident on the Ponda flyover, where a 19-year-old boy named Shravan Naik from Vadiwada, Kundaim, met with a fatal self-accident. Shravan, who was a student at a local higher secondary school, lost control of his two-wheeler, colliding with road dividers before hitting an electricity pole.

**Collision at Mapa-Panchawadi**

In another heart-wrenching incident, Mohammad Killedar from Sanvordem lost his life in a collision involving a tanker, car, and truck at Mapa-Panchawadi, Shiroda. Eyewitnesses reported that the water tanker Mohammad was travelling in collided with the tyre of a rubble-laden truck, before crashing into a car. Mohammad, who had been working as a mechanic for the tanker owner for two decades, tragically lost his life on the spot. The accident also resulted in injuries to a woman named Chandravati Kaskar, who was in the car.

The third fatal incident occurred in Pernem, where a woman named Sunita Naik, 54, from Torxem, Pernem, was run over by a truck at Pernem junction on NH 66 at Poroscodem, Naibag. Sunita was riding pillion on a two-wheeler with her husband Rajaram Naik when the horrific accident took place. The Pernem police have launched an investigation and registered a case against the truck driver, Pandit Naik from Karnataka.

**Calls for Road Safety Measures**

Following the tragic events, South Goa DySP (Traffic) Prabodh Shirvoikar visited the accident site at Mapa-Panchwadi and highlighted the need for road safety measures. He emphasized the narrowness of the road and called for the installation of speed-breakers at sharp turns to prevent similar tragedies in the future. Shirvoikar urged motorists to avoid reckless driving, adhere to traffic regulations, and wear helmets to reduce the risk of fatal accidents.

**Additional Incident in Dharbandora**

In an additional incident, a container truck carrying tyres overturned on the road in Dharbandora, fortunately without causing any injuries. The Ponda police confirmed the incident but noted that no individuals were harmed in the accident.

The series of accidents on Friday serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible driving practices. As communities mourn the loss of three lives, authorities are underlining the need for vigilance and caution on the roads to prevent further tragedies..
