Arrest Made in Idaho Falls Crash Resulting in 6 Fatalities
A tragic incident occurred on May 18 in Idaho Falls, resulting in the loss of six lives. The Idaho State Police responded to the scene in the early morning hours, at milepost 308 on US 20. A Dodge Ram pickup travelling eastbound on US 20 veered left of center and collided with a westbound Chevrolet passenger van.

The driver of the pickup, identified as 26-year-old Luis Garcia-Diaz of Rexburg, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the driver of the van, along with five passengers, lost their lives at the scene of the crash. Additionally, nine other passengers sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Arrest of the Suspect
After being treated for his injuries and released from the hospital on Friday, Luis Garcia-Diaz was arrested by Idaho State Police troopers on a warrant issued on May 21. Garcia-Diaz faces six counts of felony vehicular manslaughter and was promptly booked into the Bonneville County Jail without incident.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are working to determine the immigration status of Garcia-Diaz. Reports indicate that the passengers in the van were agricultural workers from Mexico, in the United States on H-2A Temporary Agricultural Worker visas.
