The accident occurred when a van collided with a truck, causing the cars carrying the family members to crash into each other. Tragically, four members of the family died on the spot, while 12 others sustained injuries and were rushed to hospitals in Mangaluru for treatment.

In Haveri district, another family was struck by misfortune when their car fell off a bridge, claiming the lives of four people. The deceased have been identified as Suresh Jadi, 43, Ishwarya Barki, 16, Chetan Sumangadi, 7, and Prabhuraj Sumangadi, 45.
