Despite their close relationship, Shahiduzzaman asserted that justice must prevail, and his brother should face the consequences of his actions.

In a significant development, the West Bengal Police announced plans to extradite Akhtaruzzaman Shahin to India for trial. While Bangladesh does not have an extradition treaty with the US, India has existing agreements in place. The authorities in West Bengal are working towards securing Shahin’s extradition to India, where the crime took place. Shahin, who is known to have US citizenship, is currently believed to be residing in New York City.

The Tragic Disappearance of Anwarul Azim Anar

Anwarul Azim Anar, a respected three-time parliamentarian from Jhenaidah-4 and president of Awami League’s Kaliganj sub-district unit, was last seen on May 13. He had mentioned plans to travel to Delhi but subsequently lost contact with his associates. Investigations revealed that Anar was strangled and dismembered by a Bangladeshi butcher, identified as Jihad Hawladar, with the assistance of two others. The remains of Anar’s body have yet to be located.
