Pune Police Arrest Grandfather of Minor Accused in Fatal Hit-and-Run Case

In a shocking turn of events, the Pune Police Crime Branch unit has made a significant breakthrough in the investigation of the fatal hit-and-run incident that claimed the lives of two motorcycle-borne individuals in Pune City. The grandfather of the minor accused, who was driving the luxury car involved in the accident, has been arrested by the authorities. The commissioner of Pune city police, Amitesh Kumar, confirmed the arrest and stated that a separate FIR has been registered against the grandfather under IPC sections 365 and 368.

Questioning and Additional Arrests

Following the tragic incident that occurred in Pune’s Kayani Nagar, the Pune City Police questioned the 17-year-old’s grandfather earlier in the week. The accused teenager, allegedly driving the luxury car while under the influence of alcohol, collided with the two IT professionals, Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, who were riding a motorcycle. In a new development, the grandfather, Surendra Kumar Agarwal, has been taken into custody, and his son Vishal Agarwal has also been booked in the same FIR under multiple IPC sections.

Allegations of Coercion

According to reports, the family driver, Gangadhar, filed a complaint with the police, alleging that he was coerced by Surendra and Vishal Agarwal to take responsibility for the crime instead of the minor accused. Gangadhar claimed that he was forcibly taken to Surendra Agarwal’s residence against his will, where he was threatened, had his phone confiscated, and was kept confined in the bungalow. The authorities have taken these allegations seriously and are investigating the matter further.

Judicial Proceedings and Investigation

The minor accused, who was previously granted bail, has been placed in an observation home by order of the Juvenile Justice Board. Meanwhile, the teenager’s father, Vishal Agarwal, remains in Yerawada Central Prison after being granted judicial custody for 14 days. Pune Police commissioner Amitesh Kumar has stated that efforts are underway to try the minor accused as an adult. Furthermore, investigations are ongoing regarding the attempt to shift blame onto the driver employed for operating the Porsche car involved in the accident.

Continued Efforts and Updates

As the investigation into this tragic incident unfolds, the authorities are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice. The community remains shocked by the events that transpired in Kayani Nagar, and the police are working tirelessly to ensure that all individuals responsible for the crime are held accountable. The cooperation of witnesses, victims’ families, and law enforcement officials is crucial in bringing closure to this devastating chapter in Pune’s history.
