The Tragic Incident at Yabram

In a shocking turn of events, a misunderstanding between Fulani herdsmen at Yabram, a farming community near Dambai in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region, has resulted in a violent clash that left one resident dead and several others injured. The incident, which escalated into machete clashes, has sent shockwaves through the community.

Details of the Incident

Abdulrahman Abdulai was tragically butchered to death, while others identified as Ibraima Jibo, Mahamudu Iko, and Lasi Mahamudu Iko sustained severe machete wounds. The injured were rushed to the Dambai Health Centre and E.P Church Dan Moser Memorial Clinic for urgent medical treatment.

Eye Witness Account

Mr. Philip Kwadwo Bidaba, the Assemblyman of Kwame-Akura East Electoral Area, who confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), revealed that a herder had become intoxicated on hard drugs and was unable to lead the animals to graze. This led to the misunderstanding that ultimately resulted in the tragic clash, death, and injuries.

Response to the Incident

Upon receiving a distress call, Mr. Bidaba rushed to the scene to prevent further bloodshed. He took swift action to ensure that the injured were transported to the nearest medical facilities. Unfortunately, one of the victims was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Current Situation

The Ghana News Agency (GNA) conducted a follow-up at the Dambai Health Centre and witnessed one of the victims responding well to treatment. Further checks at E.P. Dan Moser Clinic revealed that two victims were receiving treatment, with one under police protection at the facility.

Assurance of Recovery

Speaking to the second in command at E.P Clinic, Mr. Victor Kwame, it was confirmed that the victims were currently responding well to treatment and were considered to be out of danger. Despite the tragic nature of the incident, there is hope for the recovery of those injured in the clash.

Police Involvement

The Police Command, when contacted, did not provide any additional information aside from their presence at the Clinic. The deceased has been taken to the WoraWora Government Hospital morgue for preservation as investigations into the incident continue.
