In a tragic turn of events in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar, two young IT professionals from Madhya Pradesh, Ashwini Koshta and Aneesh Awadhiya, lost their lives after being allegedly run over by a 17-year-old boy driving a Porsche. This shocking incident has prompted the Pune Excise Department to issue a stern warning to nearly 2,500 pub and bar owners in the city and the nearby Pimpri-Chinchwad region.

The Pune Excise Department has taken swift action by forming a special squad of 12 officers to investigate rule violations related to serving alcohol to customers under the age of 25. Guidelines have been issued to the owners of 929 bars in Pune city, 867 bars in Pimpri-Chinchwad, and 697 bars in the district. Bar owners have been cautioned that a first-time violation will result in a hefty fine of Rs 50,000. Subsequent violations will lead to further penalties, including license cancellation and punitive action.

Surprise inspections by the special squad will be conducted regularly to enforce these guidelines.

The father of the accused has also been detained and sent to judicial custody.
