Victim of Fatal Shooting identified
In a tragic turn of events, the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred outside a bar on Elmira’s Northside has been identified as Norman D. Cherry, 43 years old. The Elmira Police Department released the victim’s name following the incident that took place on Monday night.

Details of the Incident
Cherry was shot shortly before 11 p.m. outside Gush’s Thirsty Bear located at 351 E. Washington Ave. He was then transported to a local hospital by a private vehicle before being pronounced dead. Elmira police, along with the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, West Elmira Police Department, Elmira Fire Department, and Erway Ambulance, conducted an investigation at the scene of the shooting.
Investigation Ongoing
The investigation into the shooting is still ongoing, and the police have not released any information regarding possible suspects or other details of the case.
