The Tragic Incident
A man, identified as Kenneth Mutusi, met a fatal end after causing chaos in his community. The 40-year-old resident of Nyakabengo Cell, Muhanga Town Council, Rukiga district, was known for his criminal activities, including damaging property, assaulting neighbours, and causing fear amongst locals.

The Violent Encounter
On May 23, 2024, Mutusi, along with accomplices, targeted Roset Kyarisima, allegedly due to a land dispute. They violently entered her home, attacking her husband and critically injuring Roset with a sharp panga. Despite the severity of her injuries, Roset managed to seek help and was eventually rescued.
The Police Response
Upon receiving the distress call, police officers from Muhanga Police Station rushed to the scene. Mutusi, refusing to surrender, brandished a panga and spear, posing a threat to the officers. In an attempt to subdue him, a fatal shot was fired, leading to Mutusi’s demise at Muhanga Health Center II.
The Victims of Mutusi’s Crimes
The deceased had inflicted harm on various individuals in the community, including 82-year-old Jonah Kabalaga, who lost valuable land due to Mutusi’s actions. Turyasingura David and Inga Twinomugabe also suffered losses, with their plantations being destroyed by the criminal.
Investigations and Postmortem
Authorities have launched investigations into the incident to understand the full extent of Mutusi’s crimes and the circumstances leading to his death. Meanwhile, Mutusi’s body has been taken to Kabale Hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
