Tragic Motorcycle Crash Claims Life of Hartford Man

A 55-year-old Hartford man, Chad Carter Bauer, tragically lost his life in a single-motorcycle crash near Montrose, South Dakota. The incident occurred on Saturday, May 18, when authorities in McCook County responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Valley Road and 249th Street, roughly six miles north of Montrose.

Details of the Crash

According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, Bauer had come to a stop at a stop sign before accelerating quickly from the intersection. He continued to accelerate, ultimately losing control of his 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle. The vehicle rolled several times, ejecting Bauer from the motorcycle. Tragically, Bauer was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
