Residents of Fairfield County, South Carolina, were left in shock as news broke of a tragic shooting incident that claimed the life of 23-year-old Eric Mayben. The incident took place late Thursday night at a home on Comet Lane in the Jackson Creek Road area.

Victim identified and Autopsy Scheduled
Fairfield County Coroner Chris Hill has confirmed the identity of the victim as Eric Mayben, a resident of Winnsboro, SC. An autopsy to determine the extent of his injuries has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Deputies were called to the scene shortly before midnight on Friday, where they discovered Mr. Mayben had tragically lost his life.
Suspect Caught on Surveillance Video
According to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, an unknown man approached the home on Comet Lane, fired multiple shots into the front door, and fatally shot the victim inside. Surveillance footage released by the FCSO shows the suspect wearing a piece of clothing over his face as he approached the front door before the shooting took place.
