Details of the Attack

The attack, carried out by armed gunmen belonging to the Terre Nwa (Black Soil) gang, happened on a day when many Haitians were anticipating the deployment of Kenyan police officers. The Terre Nwa gang, led by a man known as “Jones”, is based in the area of Sarthe and is notorious for its criminal activities. The gunmen ambushed Davy and Natalie as they were leaving a church service with several youths, driving them into the house, tying them up, and looting the property.

Chaos and Panic

After the initial attack, Davy managed to untie himself and reach out to his parents for help. However, the situation escalated when members of another gang, led by a man called “Jeff” from the nearby Canaan area, arrived at the scene. Amidst the chaos and panic, Davy, Natalie, and Jude were barricaded inside the house before being brutally murdered and their bodies set on fire.

The Impact on the Missionary Community

The deaths of Davy and Natalie Lloyd, who had dedicated their lives to serving the people of Haiti, have sent shockwaves through the missionary community. Despite the ongoing security concerns in Haiti, some missionaries have chosen to remain in the country to continue their work. The delayed deployment of Kenyan police officers due to equipment shortages has added to the challenges faced by those working in the region.

A Heartbreaking Loss

The families of the victims, including David and Alicia Lloyd who founded Missions in Haiti, are grappling with the tragic loss of their loved ones. Davy, who grew up in Haiti and considered it his home, had a deep connection to the country and its people.
