In a disturbing incident that has shocked the community, a convicted sex offender has been identified as the suspect accused of sexually assaulting a woman outside of a Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) parking garage. The incident took place on May 11 outside of VUMC’s East parking garage, located in the 1200 block of 21st Avenue South.

## Suspect Identified and Charges Issued

Metro police have identified the suspect as 39-year-old Daniel Revette. Detectives and scientists at the MNPD’s crime lab worked tirelessly to identify Revette as the perpetrator. Warrants were issued on Thursday, May 23, charging him with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated sexual battery, and attempted rape.

## Previous Convictions

This is not the first time Revette has been in trouble with the law. In 2007, he was convicted of attempted rape and received a six-year sentence. He is currently under community supervision for life by the Tennessee Department of Correction. In 2021, Revette was convicted of aggravated assault and received another six-year sentence. Additionally, he has a history of violating the state’s sex offender registry law.

On the day of the assault, a VUMC employee noticed a man, later identified as Revette, pacing nearby. When she attempted to leave the area, Revette allegedly grabbed her from behind, choked her, and threatened to kill her if she made any noise. During the struggle, he sexually assaulted the victim before she managed to break free and escape. The traumatic incident left the victim shaken and traumatized.

## Continued Violations

In a further blow, the state has issued sex offender registration violation and community supervision violation warrants against Revette. His repeated offences and disregard for the law highlight the danger he poses to the community.
