Hawaladar’s Role in the Crime

Sources revealed that Hawaladar, a Bangladeshi citizen, had been brought to Mumbai by one of the prime accused, Akhtarujjaman, before being taken to Kolkata to carry out the heinous act. During interrogation, Hawaladar admitted to assisting in chopping the victim’s body and disposing of the parts in various locations. It was also discovered that the accused had been housed in a flat in Chinar Park in 2018, rented by Akhtarujjaman.

The Honey-Trap Scheme

It is suspected that a woman named Shilasti Rahman, currently in custody of the Bangladesh Police, lured MP Azim to India under false pretenses. The MP was allegedly enticed to New Town, where he met his tragic end. Hawaladar confessed that after strangling Azim, his body was mutilated and stored in a freezer before being transported in luggage trolleys to the Polerhat area for disposal.

The Investigation Continues

Despite Hawaladar’s claims of being unable to identify the exact location where the body was dumped, CID officials are actively pursuing leads to uncover the full extent of the crime. It is suspected that Hawaladar was paid a substantial sum to carry out the murder and disposal of the body. Interrogations are ongoing to determine the involvement of other accused individuals in this heinous act.

Developments in Bangladesh

In a parallel investigation, three suspects detained in Bangladesh have been remanded to 8-day police custody by a local court. The authorities are working in collaboration to unravel the intricate web of connections that led to the brutal murder of MP Anwarul Azim.
